Springfield holds the county seat of Robertson County, one of the most beautiful towns in the county and still gets a bad rap. So today I would like to go in detail and explain the good and bad of Springfield Tn  

The town was established in 1798, but it was not incorporated until 1819. With just under 20,000 people this is a town with a true potential of growth.  

Cost of living 

And even though it only covers about 13 sq miles. There are many different sections of Springfield to think about.  Overall cost of living is about 7.5% lower than the national average. Schools

Public high school in elementary school in the City of Springfield according to www.greatschools.org is rated at 3 out of 10. However the middle school is 5 out of 10. 

But there still are alternatives, There is the Robertson County virtual School which is rated at a 4. Also parts of Springfield is zoned  for coopertown schools which is rated at a 4. So there are other parts of the town that is ready for White House school zones. Which the high school is rated a 7 out of 10.  There is also a highly rated private school in Springfield. 

However the counties top private school is in Springfield at South Haven Christian School. It is a very highly rated school and tuition is $6000 a year. 

Different areas of Springfield 

Legacy golf course area  is a great upper class area of Springfield. There are great subdivisions next to a beautiful golf course.

Springfield/White House area is mostly everything on Hwy 76 in the White House School Zone. Many beautiful new construction homes on 2+ acres of land. 

 Historic district and downtown Springfield.. such a great downtown district many music videos and just recently Nicole Kidman was spotted shooting a movie scene in the area. 

Springfield/Cross Plains  This is a very different area of springfield that is very rural area on the border of Cross Plains area of Springfield.  This area you will see alot more farmland and alot less subdivisions. 

History

The city of Springfield has a deep history dating back to 1798 when it was established and finally when it was incorporated in 1819. Springfield is was the 7th largest tobacco procer in the United States by 1890 and to this day is well known for their tobacco production.  Robertson County also is in the top 12 counties in the state for soybean production as well as beef and dairy cattle. 

Parks

Garner Park… giant castle style playground, picnic area, tennis courts and even a dog park. Walking trail is in this area as well. The multi-purpose and scenic, 4-mile Springfield Greenway connects parks, the historic and business districts. 

J Travis Park… . fantastic area during Christmas season with their winter wonderland drive through lights special, but there is a lot to do in the summer as well. They have a fishing pond with ducks that you can feed, also have a. Great playground for the kids and a big picnic table area where you can have parties. 

MLK jr park.  It is a great park that keeps getting better, the playground area is fantastic, and now they have a great splash pad for the kids. 

 Activities for kids

But there are many other great things to do in Springfield area geared towards kids. There are many different martial arts schools great for kids such as Joey Brassell martial arts academy in the city has truly gone to Great lengths to have great sports leagues for kids. What's up with that there is also be  YMCA there that have basketball soccer and many other sports leagues throughout the year. 

There are other great activities such as Honeysuckle Hill farms. They have a pumpkin and flower patch, corn maze and a great adventure park. 

Willow oak center for art and learning is also a great place for people to learn about art and creativity. My daughter actually took a class here a few years ago and was a great experience. But they do activities not just for children, have all types of our classes throughout the entire year. 

 Things to do 

The Springfield Parks & Recreation Department is excited to partner with Walmart of Springfield to bring free, family-friendly movies to Springfield. Every 3rd Friday night during the summer. There is also a summer/fall concert series every first Friday of the month from June til October. 

Legacy Golf Course.  Of course if you are into golf Legacy Golf course would be a great option for things to do. This fantastic, 18 hole golf course has been around since 1996  and is a 6,755 yard course that was designed by PGA Hall of Famer Raymond Floyd. 

One thing that is happening currently right now that's getting a lot of attention as of late is the theater. So right in the square there used to be a theater with A LOT of history. It started as Capital Theatre in 1939 and then it was Carmike for a very long time until it was shut down as AMC 1 but it has been recently been purchased by a local investment company to revitalize the original Capital Theatre into a Performance and Arts Theatre! But if you're still in the mood for a movie and not a play then Springfield can still help. It has been confirmed that there will be a drive in theater coming in 2024.

Food

But I can't leave you guys without talking about the food!! 

Springfield is known for their local stores and restaurants.  And they have some of the best around!!

1. The Depot is a fantastic restaurant with good american food with large portions. 

2. B.S. Brew Works is an american bar and grill with great bar food and craft beer live music and games.

3. Catfish house is one of Springfields longest running restaurants and it has never disappointed. Not only does it have fantastic Catfish but all of their seafood is great! Plus their hushpuppies are fantastic as well. 

4. Torinos is another great Italian restaurant that has such great food. From Pizza to pasta they do everything top notch!!

5. Etta Raes. If you’re looking for something that is a higher class restaurant but don’t feel like going to Nashville to a 5 star restaurant than Etta Raes is where its at. They not only have fantastic food but the environment is second to none.
